MY JOURNEY INTO PILATES
When I was young I had a complex and challenging relationship with my body.
I took up dancing at an early age and throughout my childhood and teenage years my identity was strongly connected to being a dancer. Although I loved to dance, I was constantly plagued by self-criticism. I became too focused on how my body looked. I stopped dancing while I was in college and found some relief from so much time spent in front of the mirror, but I ended up neglecting my body completely which led to feelings of anxiety and depression.
After college, while living abroad I discovered a sweet little Pilates studio in my neighborhood. I checked it out and fell in love during that very first workout. I left that first Pilates session feeling happy, challenged, calm and excited for my next visit to the studio. Practicing Pilates became a huge part of healing the image I had of myself and my body. Life with Pilates allowed me to develop a positive self-image and re-discover the joy of movement.
This journey has led me to understand the transformational and healing power Pilates has to offer. As I have worked with students over the past two decades, I have developed a deep capacity for listening to and nourishing all facets of their body and spirit. I am passionate about working with them to build physical strength, improve balance, agility and postural awareness, and nurture self-acceptance. Every day I am inspired by what Pilates brings to the life of my clients. The entire process is joyful, and I am honored to be able to share it with others.
